Sensei Henry started his eastern martial arts training in 1999 at West Virginia Wesleyan College , studying Chong Shin Kwan and Jujutsu under Sensei Randy McNemar. Under Sensei McNemar’s instruction, Henry earned Orange belt rank in Chong Shin Kwan and green belt rank in Jujutsu.
In 2000, McNemar closed the doors to his school and Henry was invited to practice with the Western Masters Karate System students by Sensei Peters and readily accepted the chance to continue his martial arts training. Soon, he chose to become a full Western Masters Karate System Student. Over the next few years he rose through the ranks, and in May of 2003, passed his First Dan Black Belt Test. In January of 2006, Henry earned his Second Degree Black Belt. Sensei Henry took dual tests in February and March of 2009 for his 3rd Degree Black Belt, passing two separate tests on two separate skill sets and earned the coveted title of “Sensei.”
Sensei Henry felt that he should not keep what he had learned to himself and started teaching a few martial arts classes at the local Boys and Girls Club. Eventually, this grew into a desire to start a full Western Masters Karate School in Martinsburg. With careful planning and Sensei Peters’ advice, Sensei Henry was able to achieve his dream of running a martial arts school.
Sensei Henry also achieved a Second Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do from Sensei Gary Crim. Sensei Henry also brings to the table 12 years of western wrestling, as well as some training in Soo Bahk Do, Iaido, Kobudo, WTF Taekwondo and Brazilian Jujutsu.
