
Sensei Peters has been training in the Western Masters Karate System for almost 20 years. He began his training in the Western Masters Karate System in Salisbury, Maryland under the System’s founder Master Dane Harden in 1987. He earned the rank of Junior Black Belt at age 9, the youngest student ever to do so. Sensei Peters assumed the position of Chief Instructor of the Western Masters Karate System in 1999 when he founded the Sport Karate Club at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV.
Sensei Peters has competed on the state, regional, and national levels accumulating open hand and weapons championship as well as grand championship titles at both the junior and adult black belt levels. Among his wins were 4 West Virginia State Championships titles, 2 West Virginia State Grand Championships titles, and a triple crown win at the Kumite International Karate Championships. Sensei Peters competed as a member of the national sport karate team “Team K.I.,” and founded the regional sport karate competition team “Team EXCEL.” He has served as the Captain of the Mitchell’s Martial Arts STORM and demo teams, as the director of Athlete Public Relations for Kumite International Inc., and as the West Virginia State Representative for the ISA Martial Arts Group. Sensei Peters recently founded and presently serves as the President of the Western Masters Karate Association, and as an agent for the AIKIA (the American Independent Karate Instructors Association) under 9th Dan Grand Master, Dr. Jerry Beasley.
Sensei Peters has trained with and attended seminars by Master Danny Lane, Dr. Jerry Beasley, Grand Master John Pellegrini, Master Joe Lewis, Master Bill Wallace, XMA founder Mike Chat, Grand Master George Anderson, Grand Master Michael Depasquale, Grand Master Michael Depasquale Jr., Jiu-jitsu Master Renzo Gracie, Jeff Speakman, and Ed Parker Jr.
